Byond GDP
Byond Research is the branch specialized in macroeconomic research related to the concept “Beyond GDP“. This concept aims to go beyond the limitations of Gross Domestic Production (GDP) as a single indicator of economic performance and well-being. GDP focuses only on economic output, neglecting inequalities, environmental externalities and quality of life. Byond Research integrates social and environmental indicators, such as the Human Development Index (HDI), Gross National Happiness (GNH) or the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), to assess sustainable development and overall well-being.
Business Cycles
Assessing the business cycle is crucial to understanding economic fluctuations and developing effective economic policies. Byond Research uses a simple and robust algorithm that is able to withstand noise and anomalies in economic data. This method helps to clearly identify the phases of business cycles, facilitating analysis and decision-making. Many economic institutions, such as the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in the United States, adopt similar methods to determine business cycles.

The objective is to cover 50% of the adjusted market capitalization of each sector by selecting companies primarily based on their ESG score, the evolution of this score and their adjusted ESG score according to their sector of activity.
Byond Controverses
Byond Financials provides assessments of controversies regarding the potential negative environmental, social and/or governance impact of a company’s operations, products and services. ESG Controversies are assessed relative to international standards represented by the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the UN Global Compact. The ESG Controversies score has a negative impact on the final ESG score.
